Visiting a club and speaking with an officer is the first step. Once you’ve visited a club and submitted an application to a club officer, a profile will be created for you. Once you have access to your online account, you will pay club and international dues, and then select a learning pathway. Club dues are paid directly to the club and International dues and the cost of a pathway are paid to Toastmasters International. We look forward to hearing you speak!

Questions?
Do I have to sign up or RSVP to visit?
Signing up and RSVPing is not required to visit the club. Our club is open to anyone who has an interest in growing in public speaking and leadership skills. It may be helpful to let us know you’re coming so that we can answer any questions about what a meeting is like and where and when we meet. This information will help you have the best club experience.
You do not need to be a member to attend our meetings, however, you need to become a member to fill a major role, give a prepared speech, and be an evaluator.
Do I need to have public speaking experience?
No. We welcome speakers of all skill levels, from beginners who have never spoken, to professionals who have spoken on international stages.
Do I have to stand up in front of everyone and speak?
We strive to keep our club environment light, fun, and interactive. If you’re a first-time guest, don’t be surprised if we invite you to participate in a small role. We want to get you started making progress in your speaking abilities as soon as possible.
At your first meeting, you may be asked if you would like to introduce yourself. This is a great opportunity to speak in front of others about something you know a lot about… yourself! It is completely voluntary and you can say no if you prefer:) Once you become a member, one of the goals of the club is to help you grow in your public speaking and leadership skills and you will be encouraged to sign up to speak at as many meetings as there is availability. Everybody in the club is at different levels and we are all learning together.
What is a meeting like?
Meetings are 90 minutes and have three major sections.
- Prepared Speeches – Members sign up to give prepared speeches that vary in length but are usually between 5-7 minutes long. There are usually 2-4 prepared speeches given during each meeting.
- Impromptu Speeches – During this section of the meeting, anyone may be called upon to give a short 1-2 minute speech based on a prompt given by the Table Topics Master (facilitator).
- Evaluations – In toastmasters, we love evaluations because this is the opportunity to get feedback and grow. Each prepared speech from the first part of the meeting is evaluated by another member in the club. Each evaluator will give a 2-3 minute evaluation speech to help the speaker grow.
In addition to the three main components of the meeting, there are introductions at the beginning, voting and fun awards throughout, and club business addressed toward the end of the meeting.
Why should I join toastmasters?
Communication is an activity that every single human being on earth does every single day. You may communicate as a supervisor at work, in a job interview, with your family, in a classroom, as a student, or simply with friends. How you communicate can mean the difference between a raise and a termination, an argument or an agreement, or simply being understood or misunderstood.
Toastmasters is the most accessible and relevant public speaking and leadership training that is available. Your participation in toastmasters can help you achieve your goals in public speaking and in life.
What does it cost to become a member?
There are club and international dues that are paid separately. We keep our club dues affordable in order to maintain the accessibility of the club to everyone. Club dues are currently $19 every six months. Toastmasters International dues and pathway cost can be viewed here.
